Dr. Alisa Kim M.D
Dr. Alisa Kim, MD serves as the Maryland Eye Center's Medical Director. Dr. Kim is a board-certified ophthalmologist and corneal specialist with expertise in corneal, cataract, and refractive surgery. Prior to joining the Maryland Eye Center, Dr. Kim served on the full-time faculty of the Wilmer Eye Institute at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, where she was an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology.
Dr. Kim attended college at the University of California at Berkeley and received her M.D. degree from the University of California at Los Angeles. She completed her internship in internal medicine at the University of California at San Francisco and her ophthalmology residency at the Jules Stein Eye Institute of the University of California at Los Angeles, both annually ranked as one of the top training programs in the country. Dr. Kim went on to obtain subspecialty fellowship training in cornea, external disease, cataract, and refractive surgery at the Wilmer Eye Institute at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.
After completing her fellowship, Dr. Kim joined the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine faculty, where she was active in providing clinical care to patients, teaching other physicians, and conducting clinical research. Dr. Kim was one of the corneal surgeons based at the Wilmer Eye Institute’s Laser Vision Center. She proctored numerous corneal surgical training courses. Dr. Kim also performed extensive clinical research, serving as an investigator for multiple FDA clinical trials. She has given talks both nationally and internationally on cataract, corneal, and laser vision surgery. Dr. Kim has authored numerous articles and book chapters in the field of cornea, external diseases, cataract, and refractive surgery.
